Closing the loop with

 Econyl®

Working in a Sustainable way

At NZ Carpet Makers we are dedicated to continually improving our processes to create more sustainable products.

Our manufacturing plant operates in line with all environmental standards to protect not only the planet, but also the health and safety of our team and community. We work hard to minimise waste wherever possible — recycling cardboard, paper, yarn ends, offcuts, metal, timber, and even wastewater.

To support this circular approach, we proudly accept end-of-life NZ Carpet Makers Type 6 nylon carpets returned to our Hamilton facility. We also produce ranges of carpet made from ECONYL® — a regenerated nylon created entirely from waste materials.

Nylon Regeneration

ECONYL® is a nylon fibre that’s changing the way we think about flooring. It’s made by regenerating discarded materials like fishing nets, fabric scraps, and industrial plastics through an advanced regeneration process, transforming them back into a brand-new, high-performance fibre.

The beauty of ECONYL® lies in its infinite recyclability. It can be regenerated and reused again and again without any loss of quality. This reduces the need for new raw materials, lowers greenhouse gas emissions, and helps keep valuable resources in circulation rather than in landfill.

By incorporating ECONYL® into our carpet ranges, we are not only reducing our environmental footprint but also offering customers a truly sustainable flooring solution that combines performance, style, and responsibility.

Built to last

Sustainability without compromising quality.

The unique regeneration process of ECONYL® nylon ensures each fibre retains the same high quality as its original form.

All our carpet ranges are independently tested through the Australian Carpet Classification Scheme (ACCS).

When choosing carpet, you can trust ACCS ratings for an honest measure of quality and durability. The program is run by the Carpet Institute of Australia, with testing carried out by independent experts.

Each carpet is star-rated for performance, based on how well it stands up to different levels of foot traffic — from light to extra heavy use in the home. Ratings go up to 6 stars, with more stars meaning higher quality and greater durability.
